I will agree that because I sell Marvin I'm biased toward that product. I do think it's the best window on the market. I'm not an equal-opportunity basher; I have previously posted that I think Loewen, Kolbe and Eagle make great products. That said, I think Pella does their customers a great disser...

Guy, According to my rep at Marvin, roll-form cannot get the 2605 rating. Either they have the 2605 rating on the frame and a lower rating on the sash or my source in the architectural department is wrong. I couldn't find the information on the AAMA website. Dean The specs for 2605 don't seem to me...

Re: reply
PVC-U is a good insulator. But its linear coefficient of thermal expansion/contraction is higher than wood by 6X.FenEx wrote:PVC-U has a lower heat coefficient than wood
E.G.:
PVU-U=.00006/degree C
Wood=.00001/degree C

I really don't care if its a Pella or Marvin or Gorrell or Schuco or whatever salesman........heck we don't even know it was a salesman. I just don't enter a new group and first thing say someone is a liar without first hand contact with that person. You don't really know exactly what he said and in...

Pella guy Dave is a liar and the worst kind of salesman. Say anything to slam and lie about another product type to make a sale. No wonder so many people who come to this board are so confused with this kind of idiotic mis-information being deseminated. Shame on you Pella guy Dave. A slipped seal h...

I'd approach it differently. Tell the local Pella store that you are interested in replacement windows, and that you have old Pella windows now. They will send someone out to look and that individual will be able to assess what you have and don't have. Being 85 years old, those rolscreens are probab...

Re: then why do vinyl windows get fogged up?
why? just a coincedence? go on complaints.com or do a google search of fogged up windows and you see tons of them...what causes this? isnt it true that the expansion and contraction of plastic (which is natural) causes pressure on the seals? and the other thing that bothers me about the vinyl? it i...

armore, A high coefficient of thermal expansion is one of vinyl's weaknesses, yes. That is why you can't get vinyl windows in dark exterior colors. It is also true that window companies have compensated for this weakness by design features that let the vinyl expand and contract without placing stres...
