Re: Sash Kit Questions

The performance and call backs usually are directly related to the quality of the install. I disagree, although I wouldn't know because I've only been associated with correct and proper installs. I see call backs more for failure to meet expectations. People think that a sash kit should equal the p...

Re: Sash Kit Questions

I never recommend sash kits. Too many headaches, poor performance, too many call backs.

Re: Vinyl Kraft Quality

I have seen a few people alluding to the quality of this brand but have not seen enough to give me the warm fuzzy yet. Yet!? I don't think that I've ever seen anything close to a resounding recommendation for that product except from budget-minded home builders. Builder grade, price-minded window. ...

Re: Low to medium grade window quotes

You must have had to go waaaay back to find that Bryan. There is nothing close to exclusivity with alside these days. They produce a window with cost factoring above quality or performance, and sell it to anyone and everyone regardless of their qualifications. Plygem is the same. Those two along wit...

Re: Sunrise Windows tilt-in sliders? Various series of windows?

After all they are from the same company. If I hadn't been like a dog with a bone and eventually got the information I required my sale could have been lost to Sunlite or Okna or some other competitor. I actually slightly prefer the Softlite and Okna lines so maybe that would have been a good thing...

Installed the Champion product in another life. I'd seriously consider additional options in that price range.

I've not been impressed with the integrity. You are comparing apples and pumpkins here.

$500-ish is very good for a professional install and cap. Period.

Re: CertainTeed Replacement Windows

The MI/Certainteed product is a terrible performer. It is a shame that Certainteed puts their name on such a POS in my opinion. It's is the definition of the word "leaker".

Re: Alside Promenade vs Himark 800 Series Patio Door

The patio door that alside makes is probably the best product in their lineup... And that is not a compliment.

Re: Info on Assure Windows and Series 40 Windjammers

The Simonton lines are a bit overrated in my opinion. Suspect quality and middling performance, but they do have the reputation for taking care of their customers... But then again, so does alside.
I'd run from whatever company that you have been dealing with. Uninformed at best, dishonest at worst.

Re: quality control please help

Sounds consistent with my experience with MI. Have you spoken to the owner or upper management of the installation company? They need to get this resolved for you and fast. You should not have to deal directly with the manufacturer.

Re: Help me choose final 4 window companies in SE Wisconsin

The Okna warranty is lifetime, transferrable, non-prorated. Great window, should beat the ratings of the other choices, right up there with Sunrise Restorations as my top choices. Unfamiliar with Wisco, must be local? Stanek makes a well-built window, but their double hung has a pocket sill which re...

Good advice above. I'd also look at the air infiltration ratings.
