Yes, you can negotiate a price.
You can also change the spec on the job to lower the cost.
If you want something, a lower price or something else repaired, what do you have to offer to make that up. Some real cash, make a promotional video, or something else of value to the install company.

Re: Question for Delaware Mike
I have known Mike for years. He is the only other mechanic/installer in this region besides my own men who I would choose to work on my house.
His workmanship can not be matched. His value can not be touched.
You can reach him directly.

Re: Okna Starmark vs Andersen 100/400 vs Marvin Essentials vs Interstate 9800

There is major difference even in the 400 series. I would not suggest 400TW ( this is what lots of companies start with), the 400WDH wo...

Good patio doors already weigh a ton.
TP is crazy heavy. Also the air space in most PD TP gets a little narrow.

Re: Frame Material for Larger Window in Cold Climate
Are you concerned with adding any security in the glass?
Based on what you have shared I would suggest a high performance vinyl unit like the Okna 800 triple pane with argon or its equal.

Re: Frame Material for Larger Window in Cold Climate
You could consider fiberglass. But the cost is higher and not as air tight. What floor are the windows on? Vinyl, painted exterior, foam filled frames and sash, option for triple pane to make sure you do not have condensation. You can have the best windows and still have condensation or more condensa...
