Re: Simonton 5500 vs Anderson Renewal?

You really need to look at real world versions of either woodgrain to get a realistic impression of what the impact will be. There are windows made that also have a stainable interior as well so you can match whatever color is there. As far as the two brands go, there are plenty of posts about both ...

Re: Sun Rise "Renovations" Price - Windows Only

Krypton has skyrocketed in price lately and the window prices are reflecting this increase. A VT of 0.42 is pretty standard for a triple pane window. Many will be lower as the Sunrise extrusion is very narrow and does not loose light to the frame like many replacement windows do. That price does not...

Re: My Gorell quote

I would suggest that you shop any quote you get regardless of price. What is included in that install (i.e. options, installation type, existing windows, etc). $830 is certainly well at the upper end of what any vinyl window should ever come close to costing.

Yes. SuperSpacer is actually just a brand name of a spacer that is silicone foam but they control and overwhelming majority of any silicone foam spacers made.

Re: Leaning towards Sheffield, need advice

The clip in sill, poor tolerances, and bad weather stripping is what I have observed. I mistakenly put these windows in my Father-n-laws home and was servicing them with all new weather stripping in less than 2 years. There are much better windows out there. Keep shopping. The Prism gold is what we ...

It is probably cheaper in the long run to consider sash kits.

Re: Leaning towards Sheffield, need advice

Sheffields can leak air like a sieve. I would be very hesitant about that in a windy zone like Denver. Doesn't matter how good the glass is if the air come right in.

Re: In the ballpark, or keep shopping?

Pretty good price. Openings are small. I have seen better pricing but that is certainly in line with the majority of people and cheaper than several.

Re: North Star or Sunrise Restoration Windows?

Maybe they need to send that window off for testing. NFRC has the window on file as a 0.21

If you are quoting COG, that you must really be working for them.

Re: North Star or Sunrise Restoration Windows?

You are comfortable with North Star though? You have promoted it in about 3 threads now. Foam filling is bad now? Holds moisture? Please explain how a closed cell foam can hold moisture? Just looked up North Star and the best window that I can find is a 0.21 with krypton. Pretty average triple pane ...

Re: North Star or Sunrise Restoration Windows?

North Star. The only reason to reinforce a window with fiberglass is that their vinyl is not strong enough.North Star has triple as well.Good luck. That is not even remotely true when it comes to the basis for reinforcement. Most of the measured deflection is at the meeting rail and if you can have ...

Look at the neighborhood and look at what the nice homes are equip with.

Fiberglass would be a nice option between the two.

Re: Should I tip?

Drinks and Food is better than most do. A cooperative customer, for that matter, is better than most do.

Wait and see. If you love the work, I am sure the installers will appreciate your kindness.
