WOW,
I agree about the discount but most companies hire salesman and they want to maximize their profits. the company can be very good and back up all their work so bailing just because a salesman does the discount may be a bit unfair but i see your point.

Re: Ply Gem question
yes,a bit misguided on the car analogy. a ford will get you from point A to point B reliably but will not start to leak air after a few years. a car is not made of pvc. cheaper windows use a lower grade pvc and are not designed as well meaning after being exposed to various weather conditions and ge...

Re: Ply Gem question
a value upgrade? its either quality or its not and quality obviously comes at a higher price and rightly so. what many suggest when a customer has a budget is do your windows in stages rather than buy something percieved to be mediocre.

Re: Casement Windows
unfortunately some homeowners fool themselves into thinking that they enjoy embarking on new do it yourself home improvement projects and there is some sort of personal pride involved. in reaity the pride is based on saving some money. however, most of the time the job is done poorly, looks ridiculous...

Re: Mercury Excelum Windows - any thoughts?
at face value it sems to be a pretty good window. 1) great spacer system 2) .080 out wall thickness on the pvc, very thick. 3)DP rating of 50 without reinforcement 4) air leakage rate of .09;not great but under .1 so its fine. I'd have to see the window and play around with it but i like the way it s...

Re: Window World
i give you credit for admitting you made a mistake. most consumers go with the cheaper price and then when the windows leak air they want to blame everyone but themselves. window world is a lower quality window and with windows, when its cheap, its made cheap. no window company can have such an edge ...

Okna will have the better performance numbers. the 800 okna is nicer than a gorell or sunrise in my opinion. i am not a big fan of the sill sunrise uses. that said, all three are solid products.
