Do either a Google or board search on it and you should find all you need to know. There was enough blame to go around for everybody when the collective Kimchi hit the fan. The company that sold it blamed the companies that glazed it and so on.

I know that Milgard uses Cardinal and has the new Low-e 366 coating available. It is under the name of SunCoat Max.

That is just who I am thinking of off the top of my head. There are many others.

Ask Alside about what they call "Energy Tabs"

They are extra pieces of weather stripping that they put into the corners of the meeting rails to cut down on air infiltration.

I have to agree with FenEx on this one. I wouldn't put a window in the South facing section of my home with a U-factor in the ranges that your are quoting and I live in the Washington, DC area....hardly comparable to Minnesota in any climate respects. I think whatever warming effects are to be had b...

Pull the top sash down if they are double hungs and look on top of the sash frame.

Also, look on the sides of the sashes when they are tilted in for cleaning and look on the inside of the frame where the sashes go into. You should be able to find a sticker there.

Depends on the aesthetic value to you. You actually get a little more glass with the Barrington vs. the Elements/Imperial LS. Energy data is very close with U-Factors of .29 vs .31. The air infiltration on the Elements is a bit better at .01 vs .04. I would also ask for the Bainbridge model as oppos...

Not standard practice to do expanded quotes on the items that you listed.

Certainly understandable to break down a quote if the quote includes multiple options...i.e. Grids, Glass options, etc.

Re: Best Window & Door Company

Anyone have feedback on the Best Window & Door Company? We are looking at the Gold Series that is supposedly the "Boreal" window, but I can't find much about them on here. They are on BBB.org with a satisfactory rating and were supposedly rated #1 out of 22,000 windows tested by the N...

I wasn't aware that they were making the Excalibur in a triple pane format. You may want to double check that information.

As far as the quote goes, I think you need to keep shopping some other window manufacturers to have a better sample pool.

I was just thinking some more about spacer/sash geometry. Why would the vendors not just make the IG unit 1" bigger and set it inside the sash by 1/2" more? This would allow the coldest part of the glass (the spacer) to have an additional insulating layer in from of it (the thickness of t...
