Windowrep. I was not insulting you, actually, I was commending your company. My comment on making a go of it was not meant to offend. You are obviously on the defensive on this post. You probably should tell you owner not to come west with that product though. You are right. as far as your poll goes...

The only time Off Gas will be of concern is if the house is on fire. If the house is on fire, you will have a lot more pressing issues than the off gassing fo the vinyl windows. Seriously, off gassing is produced when burned not in a state sitting in your house. That is not an issue to even consider...

Was on vacation this last week and rented a beach house on the coast. Had the Milgard Utlra fiberglass windows in it. (Without coastal hardware...oops) The color was bronze and the window has turned chalky on the north and west facing windows. It took the time to play with the windows, since it was ...

I would take the opposite on the same issues. I have had better experience with the Jeld-Wen. I did not know they cut off any dealers. In the bay area they have expanded. I would deffinantly agree that a dealer will have a larger impact on the quality of the product than you might think. They will g...

The Jeld-Wen warranty and the Milgard are almost Identical. The Jeld-Wen warranty claims department is easier to deal with if there is a problem. and lately has been in under two weeks to get resolution. Milgard is at about 6 weeks right now, but are also very good. The Milgard Siteline is better th...

Vinyl should last 20-30 years (earwax, can you state your sources?). My source is the vinyl extruders themselves. I do business with Royal and Mikron. They both are very reputable and are by statistics two of the largest window extruders in the Nation. They guarantee the windows to be good for 30 y...

Man....I fell like we have all read this same thread before. I like Fiberglass windows. I have nothing against them. They are easy to make, costly to buy and look and operate well. Doc, I think we can agree to disagree on some things. The reason why I do not like the way your information is presente...

Doc: I do not mean to be rude, but most of your post that I have read sound like regurgitated sales pitches from poor sales people. Scare tactics and false information. Where did you learn all your information? You manufacturing knowledge is poor, your sales information if even less impressive and y...

If you water tightness is your largest concern, then look at the DP rating of the window. Most of the windows sold in your area are LC, R, or C. (Light Commercial, residential and Commercial). An R20 is the standard for most major builders. Able glass has a lot of knowledge about different types of ...

Marel, I posted to your other question already. This one has me concerned for you. I assume you live in the south bay, maybe San Jose area. We do not see a lot of rain out here. If you are getting water leaking into your home and have had the problem cured....maybe you were fighting the wrong battle...

Marel, All three are good company's with decent reputations. Milgard would be my first choice, then Amsco and lastly Simonton for vinyl. You will be paying a real premium from your installer if you do one window at a time. I would at least do a side of the house at a time to save on installation cos...
