Nice, heavy duty window. Previously had some design flaws but appear to be figured out these days.

Not familiar with the specific window but Thermal Industries is under the Atrium company if I am not mistaken.
They can make some decent mid grade stuff but are typically very expensive.

Good window with good energy numbers. Nice this profile with a good amount of glass.
They are typically priced at a premium and there are several windows (some with better energy numbers) in that price bracket.

There are several people on the boards that have used them. Try a search with the inline tag and it should return several threads.

Model number, type, and year of window will help with the diagnosis.
Sounds like a balance system issue. They are typically very serviceable parts if you are handy.

Re: PAINT OR COVER: OUTSIDE TOP PORTION OF WINDOW BELOW BRICK
That steel piece that you are referring to is a window lentil. It is designed to displace the load above the window across the bricks surrounding the window and not on top of the window. There is ultimately no reason that you would need to have access to that plate with the exception of a project to...

Re: Review of price Quote
You are at the tip of the iceberg of what should be your research. You can answer many a question you might have but poking around on this board and through previous posts. You certainly should get more quotes. At $1500+, you are at the very upper end of the price scale for your replacement. I depen...

Re: Simonton measuring instructions?
Dealer 2 is correct. On the measuring end of things and build size, he is correct (edited per Bill information) The filler piece he is talking about is call sill angle and is unnecessary if you cap to that accessory groove. If not, the sill angle will be needed and is included for free with the wind...

Re: Survivor opinions?
Whomever you talked to at Bradco was sadly mistaken. Simonton most certainly does make replacement windows. It is just recently that they have added integral nailing fins to their options list. You can still easily order the window with no nailing fin. The Simonton window is better than the Survivor...
