Simonton

The Impressions 9800 series is the same .072 as the other windows mentioned by Simonton.

While I haven't seen the Anlin or the Polybau windows, I like the Simonton 5500 with the optional Super Spacer, or the Impressions 9800.

Good luck to you.

The air leakage number is very surprising, give the fact that the Bryn Mawr window does not have interlocking sashes.

insulation

Foam insulation is very important. This is the first time I have heard of one of our competitors offering it. We insulate the perimeter of the windows on every installation, it is not an option.

Pella windows

I hope you're not referring to me as a "Pella Hater". You and I have had our heated discussions on the Pella window line in the past, but you have stood by Pella so steadily that I am going to take another look at them Guy. I figure if you really believe in them this much, they must be doi...

Window World

I have enjoyed this topic and all of the postings, but the last posting by the Window World rep was too much. There is no way in hell that Window World uses top quality installers when they pay less than $50.00 per opening. No professional window installer with an ounce of ability would work for tho...

U Value - R Value

Cheryl, R-values are calculated at the center of glass only. U-Values are calculated on the entire window. If you take the U-Value and convert it to an R-value, you will have the true R-Value of the entire window. When you are reading about a window's R-Value you are almost always getting the value ...

You should look at the Eagles. They have the best tilting hardware in the industry. They also make a very good window, and offer 50 exterior color options as standard.

Good luck.

I'm curious why the Andersen Renewal windows only carry a 10 year warranty on the frames, which is the same warranty term that most wood windows carry, if they are so sure that the Fibrex cannot rot. The following is lifted straight from their warranty certificate issued to the homeowner. The truth ...

That is the right pricing range. The problem is Milgard cannot produce a round shaped fiberglass frame yet, so what you would be getting is a heavy extruded aluminum exterior with a solid douglas fir interior. They warranty the product as a fiberglass window but there is no fiberglass in it at all. ...

We carry Eagle wood windows which have a heavy extruded aluminum exterior cladding. The exteriors are available in 50 standard colors, and they are one of the very few companies which does not cut their painted finish warranty for applications near salt water. I think Eagle makes one of the very bes...

I have responded to your posting on the previous thread, however let me expand since I have now read the new posting.

The casements, picture windows and doors are no problem.

Having said that, in my opinion, you would be better off choosing a good clad window until Milgard gets their act together.

Milgard Ultra

Do not purchase the double hung windows! They leak air, the screens do not fit tightly, the upper sash will not stay up when the windows are unlocked, and the fit and finish are poor. Milgard is currently redesigning them, because of all the problems. They are telling us that the new double hung wil...

I think you'll find that more and more companies are not giving out customers' phone numbers, after implementation of the federal "do not call" list. Our company policy is to provide previous customers' names and addressses, but no phone numbers. That way potential customers can see the wi...

50% down

I agree with Guy. When we place an order for CUSTOM SIZED windows, we are stuck with them. The manufacturer will not allow us to return the windows, and it is difficult to warehouse them while waiting for another opportunity to use the exact same sizes. When we sign a contract with our customers, we...
