Re: Sunrise vs Window World

Sunrise's products are very highly regarded by most in the industry. I can say from extensive personal experience that it is a very nice product. This product is at the opposite end of the spectrum from Window World. They install Alside products, primarily equivalent to the Excalibur and the Sheffie...

Re: Simonton or Plygem Premium Series Double Hung Windows

Either one is miles and miles better than Lowes offerings... PlyGem and Simonton both make pretty nice products and you'd be well served with either choice. I have more experience with Plygem so I'm somewhat partial to them, but other guys can say the same about Simonton. Pricing shouldn't really be...

Re: Sliding patio door estimate Help please!

I agree. I can only speak for my own market, but $2000 is about right, give or take depending on options and quality.

Re: Will low e and argon windows make my house darker?

Eco answered your question extremely accurately and thoroughly... The only thing that I could throw in there is that when choosing a new window the VT rating (visible transmittance) will tell you how much light will come through... As Eco said, I don't know if I've ever run into a situation where a ...

Re: New Window

It would probably be fine for warmer climates. That SHGC is very low for anything else, and I would think the VT has to be terrible.

Re: Rotten wood MW windows, but only need replace a few

I agree with WOW... To be honest, most of people who are window "experts" say "yuck" about full wood frame window like the MW's that you have. High quality vinyl windows will offer the best bang for your buck without question. If you can't get over the fact that it's vinyl, then ...

Thats a pretty good quote on the Sunrise and it is the best product of those 3 by far. Should be an easy choice. 8)

Re: Champion vs Feldco vs Stanek vs Wasco vs ?

We really try not to comment on pricing, even though I did give some input earlier in this thread which is applicable to your situation. If you are asking whether the Stanek product is something special, the answer to that is no. I don't think it's half-bad, but it isn't anything special either IMHO...

Re: Plygem windows or Revere Windows???

Plygem is a far better product than Revere (alside), so if you are getting the same price AND a better glass package to boot, that's a no-brainer. Just be sure that you trust the installation company.

Re: Sash Replacement or window replacement inserts?

I was thinking of doing the install myself and just purchasing the product. Based on what I'm reading, it seems like the vinyl replacement windows are the best option. Also, I'm assuming I wouldn't need a storm with those, correct? That's correct... No need for a storm, and at $200 -$300 window onl...

Re: Sash Replacement or window replacement inserts?

Some guys have decent experience with sash-packs, personally I've never seen an install that I've liked. I've done a few and decided they weren't for me. I've seen many more that are in need of replacement after 5-10 years because they are all out of whack. I guess its like anything else, a good ins...

Re: Opinions on Weathershield Visions 3000 windows?

I am not a big fan of the Weathershield vinyl product. It really seems to be an afterthought like the vinyl offerings of the other wood manufacturers.... I would also recommend talking to Windows on Washington though. Very knowledgable and ethical guy. :D .... Sunrise and Gorell are 2 nice products ...
