Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

Bill, is the Window Universe being installed by Alside? or do they have a location there? Obviously the two most expensive are the better products although I think your mixing the lines, Vanguard is a Sunrise line as is Restorations.

Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

The numbers I got are from their website, whether or not the foam or composite are more or less than they should be , the AAMA and NFRC numbers are there. Perhaps they are using a cheater window for testing?[/quote]

Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

Revere, Mezzo, WW is all the same product. Just different names and brochures. I don't like those products for a few reasons. Only two layers of weatherstripping (better products usually have at least 3). the vinyl extrusion thickness is .060 mil (one of the thinnest vinyls in the industry), relies ...

Re: Installation warranty

Hello If a company that installs highly regarded windows and has great reviews but only offers 1 - 3 years on installation warranty, are they worth considering? I would say so, almost any installation issues would arise during the first one or two years. They should still come out and address any i...

Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

Yeah seems to make sense, that's apparently the way he's doing it. Is alside any good? From what I was reading earlier...that is the window world/preservation stuff I'm trying to avoid. He quoted me Revere.... It's middle of the road. Certainly better than what you typically find at the box stores....

Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

Thanks, I guess I was confused, as thewindowdog is the name of the owner of window universe express. If you are talking about Dan, he is the one who emailed me, so I def will respond back to him with some questions, esp if he runs a good business. I could be wrong but it appears to me the "exp...

Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

quote] Preservation is a variant of the ww 6000. Is avoid it at all costs. Not only is it poor performing tank of a window with a weep system in the sill framing, but u are paying a premium for it because of the fancier name and brochures. Is the weep system something to be weary of? One of them sh...

Re: Recommended Installation Method For Wood Window Replacement

Our old wood windows are way overdue to be replaced so we're close to making a decision on replacing them. I believe they are Oldach wood windows. I told the installers that I want the entire wood frame removed since it's in such bad shape. So I believe this makes it a full frame replacement rather...

Re: Storms with new Inserts vs Sash Kits vs Full Frame

If you intend to keep the storm windows, you will need a window that has a 3 1/4 jamb width. Basically any vinyl window would fit this and several wood manufactures could possibly accommodate this as well. I'm not really sure what would be the purpose of keeping the storm window though. If you repla...

Re: Anlin Del Mar vs Bayview Quote & Questions - Los Angeles, CA

While I'm not familiar with the products I'll say that $5k for the info you provided doesn't seem like that great of a deal. I would say generally 3 points on the shgc seams more to me like one company is quoting a shgc with grids and the other is quoting without grids. In my experience when shgc va...
