Re: Replacement Windows - custom look
Check with your local Marvin Dealer. The Integrity line has expanded a great deal this year, and they are accomidating special sizes. It's a great line of window, and if the Wood Ultrex is a bit out of your price range, the All Ultrex may be an option that you want to look at. One of the perks of F...

pics would be great... otherwise it is very hard to say. Have you notified the company who installed them?

Re: Tax Credit and the "Energy Performance Ratings"
Sounds like some inconsistencies within Anderson. For your purposes, the certification statement and bill of sale is all you need to save for your records and is what I'd recommend. It is actually possible that they put the wrong sticker on. I actually had an order of 20+ Weathershield windows at on...

Re: u-factor for vinyl windows
In terms of any tangible difference, no there really isn't much difference going from .29 to .30... One thing to look at though is the SHGC. These numbers could be very different on two glass packages and your climate determines what will perform better for you. For instance, here in WI, a window wi...

Re: Great Lakes Seabrooke vs Simonton Bronze (Prism)
The Great Lakes Seabrooke is comparable to the Simonton imo.... So product wise, I don't think that a $2000 premium is justified. That being said, I would definitely investigate the installation companies further because that $2000 may very well be worth it if you get a high quality install compared...

Re: PlyGem Replacement Kitchen Window
Is there a reason why you need a SH? The PlyGem Premium is a nice product and I'd recommend it over the others, although the Milgard is decent as well. I think you may have the lower PlyGem lines mixed up, as there is a Pro series and a Contractor 2000 series. Again, I'd strongly recommend the Premi...

Re: Sunrise vs. Seaway Encore vinyl replacements
Sunrise is a great company and a great product. They have been "in the business" far longer than the 16 yrs, as the Delman family founded Great Lakes window company before selling to PlyGem. Sunrise as a company is a top performer in innovation, quality, and performance. You can search hig...

Re: Difference in SoftLite Lines
The Imperial Pro is a nice window IMO. It is not the "latest and greatest" offering from Softlite as WOW mentioned, but it still has some fairly strong numbers. To me, the choice would come down to how much difference there is in cost, and also who is installing it. It is unlikely that the...

+1 to Anthony's comments.... I think most of the "sign now for a big discount" guys don't make time for forums such as this where the primary focus is helping consumers, so you won't see much of that around here.

Re: 3 Vinyl windows for $3150 installed!
$800 for a wood laminate on one window??? I'd be happy to take a road trip for that kind of mark-up.... Seriously though, you mention "big" window(s). Is one or more like a DH/PIC/DH or something like that? If so, that is actually 3 windows in one opening which would explain the pric...

Re: confused after first presentation
2 windows met in a bar one day. Both were vinyl. One said the other was crap because he did not have a little sawdust in him. The other turned and asked if too much fiber made him more pompous and air-agant. The barkeep told the one pompous window his days were numbered. Some day someones going to ...
