For longevity on any and all other similar pella units: consider at minimum on the exterior sealing the bottom rail aluminum to the glass by running a bead of clear or white silicone. You can do this to all four sides too.

Re: Pocket window solutions?
Most salespeople do not know much technically about installs. Ask them about getting two new sash only. You have Architect series there now, so they should still support that series. You will need to go through the service department, not through sales. Most Pella distributors mark up parts more tha...

Re: Okna vs Simonton and interior trim work
If you do not mind drafts then go with the Simonton. The Okna 600DX is a great window. Huge difference between .02 and .17 , you will feel the difference. Where is the install located, still in NC? Can't comment with certainty on the trim jump and finish. Ask what the frame size of the new window wo...

Re: Provia vs. Seaway
You have several things to think through. Cost, draft, function, visible glass. Sliders will give you better cost, they will be more drafty, they will not tilt in for cleaning, you will have the most visible glass. A high performance twin DH or twin casement will cost more and give you less visible ...

I want to comment on ease of operation on sliders:
Check the rollers.
Lubricate the rollers and the frame where it makes contact with weatherstripping. Most often this has not been done. Use silicone spray.

Re: Pella Proline replacement options
Mark, DE Mike is providing you the best description of and insert install into the pella frame. Take not, most installers are not as detailed or concerned about their work. Mike is the best craftsman you will meet. You have several concerns: If you do an insert visible glass loss and stained wood in...

Re: Replacement Quotes - Recommendations
We are in the Philly area so energy savings are more important to us. When I was younger and not informed as to how to check and see if a window was drafty or not I sold the 5500 all the time. It leaks air badly. Probably not as important to you. For that price and and your location maybe the 5500 w...

Re: which side is the bead on?
Reglazing the window can be a little tricky. You need to have a source to purchase good IGU. You have to remove at least one glazing bead to check dimensions, all are critical, thickness- width- height. Once yo have the glass then you can deglaze the old clan and wet glaze/back caulk the frame place...

Re: Power - Symphony Pella windows
You have a high threshold for pain and BS. You should rescind the sales agreement. How old is your house? Are the existing windows wood, vinyl, or metal? Do you know the difference between an insert install and a full frame replacement with traditional full interior trim? You can find a much better ...

If you are doing TP(tripe pane) I would look for something that has 1 3/8" IGU.
InLine Fiberglass out of Canada does have it. They were never easy to deal with. But for a full house it might work.

Re: Opinions on Sunrise/Vanguard Interior Laminates
Couple of things:
Do your windows have colonial grids. If so SDL is a must to get close to the look you want.
The interior white depends on how fussy you are about being dead on to your painted white wood. If the white vinyl interior works for you it will be the least cost and lowest upkeep.
