Replacement windows and rotted exterior wood.

#1 Post by itsjohnib »

I was considering doing this part of the job myself. Also, after reading through many post on this site, i am rethinking my replacement window choice Marvin. The house is in the Maine.

ASk the contractors you get bids from.
If you are doing the wood replacement yourself it will be cheaper. If you are going to pay someone to do it may as well be the window installer.

Any recommendations for replacement windows would be appreciated? In this neck of the woods, Marvin comes very highly recommended by many homeowners who have replaced their windows. This along with my research on the web, I came to believe that Marvin fiberglass windows were the best available.

Marvin is a good product. Just not the most energy efficient.
High performance vinyl are the most air tight, most with a trustworthy 30+ year life cycle.
