pricing?

#1 Post by arulsel »

In the process of replacing all windows. Have received quotes from few vendors. The following is the first quote from a vendor;

OKNA Starmark EVO Size - 35 x 64.5 double hung for a double pane with no grids was priced at $1,140. The price include full frame install. No woodwork.

Attached is a portion of the estimate.

I have no clue in terms of pricing. Is that what I should be expecting?

That would be a low price for that window with a basic pocket install. For full frame, I'd get that locked in asap. VERY aggressive pricing, much lower than should be expected.

Appreciate the response. Between this vs. Pella 250 series; any recommendation?

Can't add much more than was spelled out. Run to that deal and away from the Pella at the same time. Win - Win.

+1 vs the other option. The Starmark EVO is a bit of a unicorn given its construction, aesthetics, and performance, all pretty much leading the industry. The other choice is a below average vinyl window. These are not comparable windows at all.

On a side note: “full frame” is a vague term. make sure you know and understand the installation details. Regardless it is a great price even for a basic insert install price.

Installation Detail - "It is Installed in what we call Weatherboard fashion. We install the custom fit window to the nearest 1/8”. It will sit inside the buck of the opening. We fill the seam around the perimeter of the window with low expanding foam. We install new interior and exterior stops and also cap the exterior with aluminum capping. We also caulk the window inside and out. This will protect your home from water and wind infiltration."

Is there anything missing within the install details that I should raise with the vendor?

Pretty standard insert installation. The foam is good. Tells me they are above industry average.
