Window Replacement Chicago

#1 Post by kpytoi9 »

Hey Everyone,

We are looking to replace our 30 year old wood windows with some vynil/composite windows.
We have 17 casement windows and 2 patio doors. I have read a lot on this forum of what's recommended and what's not and wanted to get some thoughts on what option would be best for the price. All are replacement inserts, not full frame tear out from credible and verified installers.

Advanced Windows 6300 Series - $20,450 (14,450 for Windows and 6000 for 2 patio doors)
Climate Solutions 8100 Series- $26,700 (20,400 for Windows and 6,300 for 2 patio doors)
Okna Starmark 7560- $44,000.00 (no breakdown)
Andersen 100 Series - $29,700 (18,700 for Windows and 11,000.00 2 patio doors)
Sunrise - 32,800 ( 22,000 for windows and 10,800 for doors)

Appreciate all thoughts and feedback.

Man...bunch of quotes and differing products there.

Were you leaning towards one over the other with regards to product affinity?

Sunrise is the best vinyl product of that line up. Starmark is a completely different material than the vinyl or wood.

You going with triple pane?

Have you reached out to HomeSealed? I think he covers Chicago at this point and would be my go to shop on this.

I too recommend that you contact homesealed.
As for the casements, are they all single casements, twins, or triples ?
example, a triple unit is considered 3 windows.

I did reach out to HomeSealed.
My thinking is that Advanced and Climate Solutions are bottom of the barrel windows. So the real decision is between the Andersen 100 and Sunrise as I dont think the premium on the Starmark is worth it.
These are all double pane windows. The Sunrise comes with the Omega 12 Glass.

I agree about the bottom of the barrel choices, drop them.

Which Sunrise model is quoted?

Are those 17 single windows, or are there doubles and triples etc. That can mess up the math.

The Starmark is great window and worth a premium for sure, just depends on how much. The company installing can move the needle on price too.

The Andersen 100 is ok as a casement. I see it sold more by general contractor types than window specialists. Not my cup of tea but its not awful.
