Missing Sash Strip that Keeper Connects To

#1 Post by procon4 »

A double-hung vinyl window is missing the keeper on the upper sash. However, the metal strip on the bottom of the upper jam that the keeper connects to is also missing.

I'm trying to figure out where I can get this part. Or, hear any suggestions for other ways to lock the window.

I've attached a picture of a window that is the same style, but which is not missing the strip; as well as pictures of the window that is missing the strip.

Really appreciate any advice.

Tilt it in or otherwise look for some identifying marks with regards to the manufacturer.

Start there. If you don't make any progress there, the next thing would be to contact Blaine window.

You are missing the bottom glazing bead of the top sash. The strikes screw down through the glazing bead into the sash rail.

Thanks, I didn't know the name of the part, so that is a huge help.

Here is a picture of the identification sticker. Let me know if this has the information I need to get it replaced. I'm happy to contact a window specialist if that is the best route.

I’m gonna guess that is an American Craftsman 1200 series/ Silverline 1200 Series window. I’d try running that sticker by Home Depot or Silverline dealer and see if is, they should be able to get you the parts.
