Choosing vinyl replacements for Los Angeles 1928 home

#1 Post by mattgsilver »

I only care about vinyl. All things being equal - I wish to compare windows at equivelant price points. Quotes for Atrium, Milguard, Superior, and Amerimax all have come in within our budget (under $10,000 for 15 windows - 2 casement - 3xx - 9DH - 1xox + grids, low e2 + wrapped)
Everyone claims their's is best - quality, warranties, etc. But then I hear the horror stories (Pella, etc.) What's the truth beyond the hype? I want bang for the buck, and I don't want to do more than what's warranted for Los Angeles weather, nor do I want to completely change (ruin) the style and look of the front of our house - which is painted wood slat exterior walls, white painted DH wood windows, 6 grid w/green painted wood moulding. I would even be willing to go with different brands/styles for the non-street facing rest of the house. I plan on selling within 2 years and don't want the next buyer askin - "why'd they do that?" Thanks for your help.
