Cracked glass

#1 Post by montclair »

The glass in the upper sash of a NuPrime (Season-all) vinyl replacement
window is cracked. Can just the sash be replaced while leaving
window in place ?

Yes or at minimum, the window can be reglazed and leave the frame intact.

The window is obsolete and no longer made so the sash cannot be replaced. The owner of Gorell Windows used to own Season-All who made the NuPrime window, but he sold the company and the new owners ended up going out of business. Wayne Gorell then went back to the town where his old plant was and started Gorell Windows, using much of his old labor force.

The NuPrime windows were around for a very long time and many changes were made in both design and materials over the years, so it is hard to give you specific advice. The method of replacing the glass can vary, so I'd just take out the sash if you know how and bring it to a local glass shop and see what they can do for you. If you don't know how, the glass shop can do a service call for you at an extra charge. Good luck.

Good info Window4U, no wonder the name Seson-All hasn't come up lately. In light of the recent Schuco issues I'm beginning to wonder in these ecomic times if we shouldn't be putting our eggs in bigger baskets. We deal with some pretty small vendors who have already went out of business and been restarted and in each case service was a big issue and not really satisfied. The names like Simonton and Milgard to name a few may become bigger players with us.
