Price recommendation for OKNA

#1 Post by hoopdreams »

Hi,

I received a quote for nine (9) OKNA 500 windows in the Northern Virginia region.
The price for the window, install, and trim is $715.50 per window.

I am wondering if that price seems high. I have had high end/brand name windows installed in the
past at a lower cost. I have searched this BB and other sites and see that price is either high, low, or in the middle.
Any feedback would be welcome.

Thank you.

Doesn’t seem high at all to me, and depending on the details (color, grids, glass package, etc..) it may be on the low end.

What other high end windows have you purchased in the past? How many years ago was it?

Could be in range.
Vague details get vague answers.
The best way to find is perhaps to more competitive bids.

Hi,

Was not trying to be vague.

I could add no grids, Double Hung (slide open), "Deluxe" window, Heat Seal Glass System, brochure says "Insul-tec".

Thanks

Hi,

White on white.
Not sure about insert vs. full frame. They are removing window and putting back into existing space.
Capping? Does that mean trim work? I assume yes.
Double pane.
Not sure about tempered?

Should this information been provided on the quote? All it says is OKNA 500 2LS.

Thanks.

The pricing doesn’t seem alarmingly low or high.

Sounds like inserts, which would be cheaper than full frames, capping is wrapping the exterior trim in aluminum coil. I’d say it’s in range perhaps at the higher end. I would want the quote to be clear on the details and I would want to fully understand them. I like details on the capping of the trim, is it going to be flat trim, a brickmold bend, if it’s going into stucco are they going to grind it or just go to the edge of it? It would be near impossible to pinpoint a price , but they all should be able to and should have gone over the basics. I’d recommend getting competitive bids, knowing the details and using a company and product you are comfortable with.

Thanks Folks. Seems I am missing a lot of the details. It seemed perfectly clear and complete when they were here. :)

Is there a list of windows installers that install OKNA in the northern virginia region or a comparable product.
I do not see a list of dealers on the okna website.

Thanks again.

Windows on Washington is the very best in Virginia. I’d recommend contacting them.

Have Windows of Washington quote you if they haven't already. They installed an Okna Patio Slider last year. They installed 17 windows (Okna 600) and a 2nd slider this past week. I am very happy with the windows and the job WoW does.

I spoke with Jay (your sales rep) and the windows we are removing here were vinyl.

The installation would be considered and insert in the sense that we are not re-trimming the interiors (i.e. drywall jambs), but the entirety of the current window (minus the nailing flange) will be removed and replaced with the new unit. After that, the exterior will be capping to finish out the outside and tie everything back for water management.

Didn't want to step into the thread when we are being discussed here to appear as self promoting...but there were some questions worth answering that will help button up the narrative.

Thank you RedWings for the feedback as well. I always smile when I see customers post up!!

That pricing certainly makes sense to me.
