Hello,
New to the forum and was wondering if it's necessary to caulk the joint where the exterior window trim and vinyl J- channel meet. I have placed membrane behind the trim but, was wondering if this step should be done?
Thanks for any advise.

Is the trim tucked in or wrapped over?

PVC textured coil stock, or solid material like azek trim boards?
Either way, if the nail fin, membrane, and flashing detail were done properly on the window install it shouldn't be needed. More aesthetic than anything in most cases.

I would caulk it.
I want to keep as much water as possible on the exterior of the siding.
