Glass Block Windows
Glass Block Windows
I am doing a bathroom install in my daughter's basement and need to replace her 65 yr. old basement window with a pre-assembled 8 block unit. I need to complete this now to continue inside finishing, however our outside temperatures are 20-30 degrees which I assume is too cold for mortar. . What would my installation options be?

Tent off, manual warm it, or go with one of those units at can be custom made in a framed unit.

+1. A local glass block company will pre-make one for you, then you can set without mortar.

If I tent it off, about how long would it need to stay heated?

I would mortar the unit in mixing with antihydro then put a 1 " rigid foam up against the exterior for 24 hours.
Worst case is you have to repoint the exterior in the spring or summer.
