buying insulated glass units

#1 Post by namirestorer »

Hello All,

I'm looking to replace single pane glass in existing sashes with insulated glass units. I'm finding it rather difficult to find a local supplier (Washington DC area). I am a restoration contractor, but can't find a manufacturer willing to deal directly, and the retail glass stores are way out of line in their pricing. Anybody have any referrals/recommendations?

Thanks

Burt

Hi Burt -

Try Classic Window in Chantilly VA, 703-631-8311. They have a full glass line and will sell replacement glass at good prices (and windows too). Getting IG's to fit in single pane windows is another story.

Thanks Will, I'll definitely give them a call.

Try Dulles Glass and Mirror, probably more in Manassas than Dulles.

It is probably cheaper in the long run to consider sash kits.
