1950s andersons - easy to replace?

#1 Post by celticgarden »

House built in 1952. Top of the line (then) double hung anderson's are not in bad shape. They are the kind that can be removed easily (spring set into jamb or side channels, whatever they are called). A window replacement contractor who is retired from anderson raved over the preserved state of some of them and called them a 7 on a scale of 1-10 (with great degrees of improvement between 7 to 10). ANYWAY, I know some of them are pretty leaky in winter. Does Anderson sell a window that I could easily (at least somewhat easily) slip in? I don't want to rip out to the rough opening.

Thanks, Linda

I doubt it. Why don't you ask that "retired replacement window contractor" since he knows how the windows you presently have are installed.
