Illinois Gorrell vs Jel -win at menards

#1 Post by ililg2003 »

Looking to install ourselves, I am reading a lot about Gorrell in the past.. Are they still worthy of their name? Or is Jel - Win at Menards a good bet? If Gorrell can you buy direct? or do you have to go through an installer? Is there such a thing as Gorrell Showroom in Illinois (Chicago area)

OR can you recommend another brand , Cost and quality.... is important, We have Republic windows and they STINK!

If you think that Republic stinks than don't even dare go near the Menards window dept! .... Gorell is a very good choice even among "pro-grade" products. Anything that you can buy at the "big boxes" won't even come close.

Simonton 9800 Impressions might be found for homeowner purchase if you search long enough. The new Certinteed Bryn Marw III actually looks decent (can't believe I writing this).

Find a Richard's Building Supply. There are 14 of them in Chicagoland to choose from. They are a distributor for them. If they won't sell to you because you're not a contractor then find a contractor and give him a hundred or two to order them for you. You will need to pay in full up front.

Our local Home Depot does sell Simonton,The Reliabuilt from Lowes is a decent window for the money. There are alot of local small shops and siding companies that sell many different brands of windows but don't usually advertise all that they sell.
