Acorn Window Pane Replacement repair - How do I remove fixed pane?
Single Hung Aluminum Acorn original windows.
The glass is broken on many of my windows. I can't figure out how to remove the stationary sash. I removed the few small screws but it won't budge.

PS: I know.... Acorn alum windows are HORRIBLE! They sweat, they frost, they're hard to close fully. Insulating factor is low.

It needs to be deglazed in place. You will not be able to get that upper sash out.

You will need to remove the glazing bead, cut the glazing tape or silicon, clean, re-apply tape or silicon, set the new glass in place, and re-install the glazing bead.

Not a project for someone who is attempting it for the first time.

Call a glazing company.

The glass is imbeded in hard black plastic which is imbedded in the aluminum framework. If you post or send me your email address I can email you a photo.

I have replaced many regular old panes in wood frame windows, cut the glass myself, I can fix almost anything but I can't see how to get this out.

Board rules prohibit me from putting up my email.

Post the picture on SnapFish or PhotoBucket and put up a link to the picture. You will get more feedback that way.
