Simonton windows integrated nailing strip w/ j channel

#1 Post by bschulz »

Can anyone tell me how deep the j channel is? 3/4?
I'll be using insulated siding so im assuming I may have to build the simontons out 1/2 "

How wide the j channel is
May have j channel but right to soffit. Depends on dimension. Im close I know that.

If you are doing backed siding, get the window with a nail fin only, use the correct j channel for the siding.

to late already ordered with j channel.
I figured I would just fur out windows the 1/2" needed to make up for the insulated siding. That way I would have a better water seal.

May still not fit if the J-Channel is a channel vs. and exterior detail.

I've never asked this of simonton, but some companies can send a J-Channel filler. It goes in were the J-Channel is and then you use your own J.

Well I did go take a look at these drawings for the 5500. I would assume they are they same on the 9800

All I should need to do is pad out window the 1/2" for the backing on the siding. Then remove the backing from the siding at the window. I really think this will give em a nice clean look as well

That should work depending on the depth of the foam backing on your siding panel.
