Glass Replacement in Wooden Frame

#1 Post by whitemikefl »

Hello all. I really need some solid info on the window frames that I have. I need to replace the glass in 3 of these frames. They are slatted wooden frames. I was told there is no way the take apart the frames to replace the glass. Another person told me they could be taken apart by finding the pins that hold the joints together. But that they would need to be repainted. Who can I believe and what should something like this cost me along with the glass ? The frame is about 20 inches by 18 inches. Here are some pictures. Any help is appreciated, I was quoted $800 to replace these. Thank You ALL very much in advance.

That is a mortise and tenon joint and is probably glued in addition to pinned. I am suspect of getting that window apart without damaging it.

The easier fix might be to break the glass, router out a groove at the edge of the glass on the interior side, and put in a glazing bead to finish off the attachment of the glass to the frame.
