Fixing older wood windows

Hi All,

Have wood windows from the 1975 timeframe. The internal springs that had a molded in plastic tab in it have broken and the spring has retracted up into the window and, as you are aware, they now need to be held up by a separate support such as a stick of wood. The windows are prefectly ok. Before I look at relacement windows, just wanted to know if there is a fix for this problem to see if it is worth making the effort. Any feedback would be apprecieated Thanks
