Looking for quality windows in SE PA
HI!
My Name is Jake. I am from Lancaster County, PA. I am planning on replacing my windows in the coming future (most likely will have to wait until spring of 2017). Our house was built in 1986 and the current windows are shot. I have a total of 17 windows. Now I am looking to put in new construction windows since I will be redoing my siding after my windows are done but i want a very good quality / solid windows because we get pretty cold winters and decent amount of wind.
My question is what windows would you recommend and what should i avoid?
I have a few quotes in the following window side 41 3/8 x 39 7/8 and they are pretty close in price between $200-265 for this window size, Double Hung, grids, low-e, white vinyl.
Alside Mezzo
Simonton 5500
Grand Estates Premier
viwinco S-series
Any advice, input, recommendations will be great appreciated!

My advice is to keep searching for a better brand of vinyl windows. soft lite, okna, sunrise, and kensington are highly regarded here.Jakester wrote:HI!

Where would I search for these better windows? Should simonton be avoided?
Re: Looking for quality windows in SE PA
I did have a quote for a Soft-Lite Barrington double hung, with low-e/argon, half screen, colonial grids, and new construction nail fin and J channel applied for $229.00
How is the Barrington line from Soft-Lite?
or he said he can do a NorthEast window DH990 for $229
I would love to get a price on a Okna 500 series but can seem to find any price info for Okna.

The Barrington is their entry level. Not a terrible unit but a bit funky exterior profile if you ask me.
Soft-Lite, Sunrise, Okna, Kensington Quantum II all make a nice window.
Have you reached out to a couple of posters on this forum? They service the SE PA area and could probably source materials for you.

I definitely wouldn't mind paying 20-40 bucks a more a window to get a set up from the entry level window.
I am fairly new to this forum and still haven't figured out how to contact people. I was hoping by posting this thread I would get a few people interested to helping me out.

Jakester,
You could possible call J & L Building Materials out of Avondale and have them quote some Paradigm vinyl for you. It's a solid mid-grade offering for a do-it-yourselfer. The ride out there should be about 30 minutes.

Thanks Mike! I appreciated that!

Is Paradigm a good window? Curious how does it compare to some of the others like Sofe-lite, Okna ect.
