final soft lite quote, your thoughts..

#1 Post by jwillie4308 »

Guys thanks for all your help I have learned alot!! Great site keep up the good works.

Bothprofessional installed.
500 dollar difference..
Both softlite windows

Window 1
With super spacers, triple panes, 1 inch glass, argon filled

Window 2
Stainless spacers, triple pane, 7/8 inch glass, argon filled
Window 2 estimate $500 less

Is window 1 estimate worth an extra cost?

19 total windows

Are both quotes for the same window line? There are many different window lines from Softlite. If the two quotes are for different lines then it's not a fair comparison. Some of the different windows from Softlite are Elements, Imperial LS, Softlite Pro, Softlite Classic, Bainbridge and Barrington.

I'd personally do window #1. ...That is if your total quote is fair.

Are they both the same installation company?
That consideration would be far more important than the other differences, including price.

I really feel more comfortable with the higher price install company. Family owned for over 30 years. However both have excellent reviews and references.

The more I look at it the window they are not from the same line.

Window 1
Imperial LS with super savers, 1 inch, triple pane and argon. This is a imperial ultra with super saver.

Window 2
Is in the classic line, with imperial spacers, 7/8 inch glass, triple pane and argon. Sales rep. is being slightly dishonest about his product. He has a classic window with and ultra system. He keeps telling me it is not a classic windows but the pictures match from product brochure from the soft lite website.

The difference is the sash is more insulated in the imperial than the classic, but that is the only thing I can find beside the previously mention list from above.

If that is the case, option 1 by a mile. The LS is the superior window and if you feel better about that install company, that definitely seals the deal. $500 is not much difference for that many windows, and certainly not for a better window/install.

+1
I said #1 already but with the new info I really say it. It's worth a lot more than the $500.

I agree with the others, the Imperial LS is the better window for sure.
