Windsor Price Quote vs. Softlite vs. Anderson vs. Jeld-Wen

#1 Post by midwesthome »

I know this is a wide ranging assortment of windows, but seems to be two main dealers who carry different products here.

I currently have Windsor wood windows in my home. It is 10 years old (we have been here for two) and has NOT been taken care of before me. The wood frames were primed but never painted (until the house was 8 years old). So the windows are now all failing. I plan on using the one Windsor company (who also sell other products) to replace the rotting sills with a new composite sill to buy myself some more time. However, I have three picture windows (roughly 36 1/4" x 79" rough opening) that are just a finger jointed pine and are done and need to be replaced.

My quotes are:
Windsor Pinnacle Wood Direct Glazed LoE (has composite sill, a composite trim on outside) $3,074
Windsor Pinnacle Clad $3,261
Windsor Next Dimension Signature Vinyl $2,778
Anderson 100 series vinyl $2,502
Anderson Fibrex $4,094
Anderson A Series $4,116
Softlite Barrington $2,395
Softlite Imperial LS $3,750
Jeld Wen Premium Vinyl $2,774

The last three quotes are from Feb 2012 so have probably gone up since then.

Your thoughts would greatly help me out!

Thanks!

You have an awful lot of different windows there. Are you leaning towards one material over another?

+1. The Softlite LS option is the class of that bunch.

The Softlite is definitely my favorite option, but with the cost being higher, I am wondering if the Windsor Pinnacle Clad was a good option or the Softlite Barrington?

What do you all think of those two?

Hoping to get updated Softlite/JeldWen pricing by Thursday.

As for what materials I like, I am not leaning one way or another. Just want a good window with low maintenance that will last a good long time. Also that won't cost me a ton for only 3 windows.

Go with the LS.

It is far superior to the Pinnacle and better than the Barrington.
