Replacement Bow window in NW Indiana

#1 Post by Peakaye »

I'm replacing a 91 x 58" 4-panel bow window, with an 8" seat. The 2 center windows are stationary, the 2 outside are casement. I've gotten a quote of 3300 (2800 'buy it today' !) for a vinyl Alside Climatech 2-pane with low-E and argon gas. Is this a decent price and more importantly, is this a decent window ? Suggestions welcome for other brands... :D

The decent price question hinges on the quality of the product, and in this case it's overpriced. I'd get quotes on better windows like Okna, Sunrise, Soft-lite before making your choice. A contractor who offers quality products will typically do a more detailed installation. A contractor who offers those lower end products will typically use the minimalist approach in their installation as well.

I don't even recall if Alside makes their own Bay/Bow frames.

In terms of the windows that go in that frame, I am in agreement with Randy (Ultra Windows) on this one.

Any idea what I could expect to pay for a Soft lite Elements vinyl bow, double pane low-E with argon gas ?

Impossible to say with certainty. Market pricing can be all over the place.

As Randy mentioned Okna or Softlite.
If the install is straight forward, less the case with bows and bays.
Between 3 to 4 K.
