west window company

#1 Post by mark_anthony »

Does anyone know the quality of West Windows, manufactured in Martinsville, VA? I live in western North Carolina, and the glass contractor I have been working with installs vinyl replacement windows made by West. I am specifically interested if anyone has information on the "Allweld" line of double-hung vinyl replacement windows, manufactured by West. There is very little information about this currently on the internet.

Never seen or heard of them. Any data on the window like PG, U-Factor, Air Infiltration, etc.?

Not familiar. I will say that while those thermal numbers are probably fine for your area, you can extrapolate some sense of design and build quality from them as well, and those are lacking in comparison to better products using the same or similar glass. This isn't a definitive assessment, but doesn't look great.

Ask for air infiltration and dp ratings for the double hung. That will add additional info from a structural perspective.

Marvin Elevate products

How would you rate the Marvin "Elevate" double hung replacement windows? I am looking to replace windows at my home in western North Carolina and found a contractor who uses these exclusively. Can someone please tell me what they think of this product, in comparison to other brands.

+1. Not a top tier performer either, but when you are selecting a window with a wood interior for aesthetics there is some trade-off. It is well constructed and generally thought of positively.
