Hello all--
I am hoping to get advice on what is to hopefully be my final decision before ordering my new windows. I have determined that I am going with the Don Young TBA windows to replace my 35+ year old aluminum windows. I am not sure if it is worth upgrading to the Cardinal XL Edge from the DY Duralite spacer. For reference, I have 37 windows and the upgrade would be about $1500 total.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
Thank you!

I think the question here might be durability of the IGU. Energy wise they should be very close.
I would tend to give the nod to the Cardinal produced units. Their QC can not be beat, their seal failure rate is very low.
Is the peace of mind worth $1500. on the purchase of 37 units?

Re: Don young duralite vs. cardinal xl edge spacer
Cardinal is the standard setter when it comes to IGU innovations, but I can't see a real compelling reason to go with the XL Edge over the duralite. We have had great success with both.
If Cardinal is making the IGUs in the case of the XL Edge vs. Don Young making the Duralite equip ones in house, then maybe its worth the extra $40 per unit, but if they are both being done by the end manufacturer, can't see a defense for the $1,500.
Where in Texas are you located?

Thank you both for your insights and based on your answers exactly why I am going back and forth. I am located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Also, from what I understand, the windows are being ordered from Don Young directly if that changes your opinions.
Thank you again!

Both Eric and I are making the same point.
If the IGUs are being made by DY then it does not matter.
If the XL Edge units are being made by Cardinal, that has some extra value, not sure $1500 worth. If it was a $500 upcharge that becomes a no brainer.

Thank you Wayne! You both made my decision easier. Much appreciated!
Re: Don young duralite vs. cardinal xl edge spacer
Quick aside, Cardinal doesn't sub out the XL spacer to anyone else, so any window that has the XL (or Endur) spacer system, the IGU was manufactured in a Cardinal IG facility.
