Hello everyone,
We need to replace 6 windows in our 50 year old house, regular double hang windows.
We are overwhelmed with choices. I have convinced my husband to actually have someone do the work (he does as much DYI as he can but there is only so much time with his regular job).
Anderson quoted us 12K (seriously???
Pella 250 -- quoted us $6500
We wanted the best quality windows we can get but now that Pella doesn't have the highly rated 350 series, I'm not sure if the 250 is worth it.
What other brands should we consider? And what should we look for when we are looking for installers?
Thank you!

Soft-Lite, Sunrise, Okna, and Polaris.
Okna and Sunrise have the slimmest lines so they will maintain maximum glass space.

Great advice above.
The only high ratings that the Pella 350 had were bought and paid for. When considering choices, compare the product performance ratings. U value, condensation resistance, climate appropriate solar heat gain, air leakage, and design pressure(strength indicator). This is your best way as a consumer to cut through all of the sales propaganda.

I agree with the above and would add that is the easy part to rate the product.
Look for a window with AL of .02 or .01 .
The hard part is getting the best install possible. Where are you located?
