Provia front door pricing eval

#1 Post by jesoonster »

Hello everyone! I know this is a "window" forum, but I know most window dealers also sell doors..so I wanted to get a sanity check on pricing I received recently for provia doors. I'm looking at a modern door (will color black) - a look like this:

https://pinkysirondoors.com/products/ai ... 7108362349

For 36 X96 slab; unit size (37 9/16 X 97 11/16); threshold 6" I was quoted:

8923$ for fiberglass
4898 steel

Install included.

I'm I getting market pricing? I was shocked at pricing but maybe this is what doors go for these days....
I live in Texas where it is hot and I intend on making my exterior in a modern home design (and would like a door shown like the link above). Would there be ANY advantage going fiberglass if I want an all black door? Thanks in advance!

That's a bit more of a premium from a steel to fiberglass than I normally see, but perhaps those more modern doors are subject to a bit more engineering in the fiberglass slab. If you aren't worried about denting the door, the steel should be just fine.

Thank you WoW.

Is the steel door pricing in the normal range??? I'm looking at posts as late as last year throughout the internet and it seems that you can get a fiberglass door for what I've been quoted for the steel door from Provia...

Well...A lot has happened since 2020. Prices are up anywhere from 20-40% in that time frame. On some materials...even more.
