Milgard Tuscany Series Glass Types and other options

#1 Post by murphysf »

Hello

I am looking to replace 11 original wood double hung windows in a home that was built in 1955 in San Mateo California

I am looking at the Milgard Tuscany Series Block Frame Slope Sill 3-1/4 window. White Vinyl, Single Hung, no grids.

Before talking about glass type, what other options are there?

Ok, now lets talk glass, what are the glass types to choose from?

Thanks!!

You don't need a 3 coat Low-e where you are. No need to max blocking on the suns rays as you are more heating dominated than cooling dominated.

Standard Low-e 2 coatings should work well in your application. CA has some weird energy rules, not shockingly, so you'll need to check those first.

If previous regulations and government interventions are any historical indicator, they will be recommending something that is both unnecessary and incorrect to boot.
