If top windows are out of price range what a good choice a tier down (if there are tiers)? (Houston, TX)

#1 Post by ErIs »

I've sene good things said about windows like Okna's 800s. I am looking for windows to replace 24 year old original windows (I think Jenn-weld- metal, single-hung, single pane).

Last year I got a few replacement window quotes that were out of price range. I don't recall the brands and company but I will try to find. I paused my search because the bombardment of phone calls and follow ups after saying no. One company was pretty much insulting me make assumptions that "in a few years I would be calling them after using window world". Needless to say I hadn't brought up any other company so, I'm not sure why they were using that as a sales strategy.

Anyway. I am curious to know if the high end windows available in market are out of price range. I have an about 24 standard windows. 2 are slight larger which archers (or I heard some call them eyebrows). About 5 windows don't open (I guess these are Picture windows, 2 of these are smaller with arches as well).

I am looking for windows that help result heat and cold just radiating through the panes. That help with heat and condensation. I've heard windows don't have a dramatic impact on energy but ours are so old I think they would help a little. Our glass seems so thin. Maybe single or double hung depending on the price. That has a "good" warranty by industry standards. The aesthetically look good to great.

Also I am looking for recommendations for installers that have pride in their work and reputation. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Also one question- How do warranties work an installer install a window that is not their product? For example does the brands installer need to install the window or are warranties on the window voided?

Easy solution to all of your questions/problems....Randy.

But seriously....call Randy at Ultra Windows in Houston.

https://ultrawindows.net/

As far as the assertion, but some folks, that a well designed and installed window won't impact energy consumption and comfort...complete bunk. A properly fit, specified, and installed window can and does impact comfort and energy consumption. Definitively and measurably.

You lucked out in the sense that you are in Houston. Randy is easily one of the BEST in the country and the industry. You will NOT find a better contractor, professional, or human to deal with in the Houston area. Take that to the bank.

Thanks for the response. I've seen his name on many posts on here. If I were trying to get a least of 2 to 3 quotes. Would you have any other recommendation. I've seen what seems to be a pretty active you tube channel with Houston Window experts- any knowledge on them? I'm not looking for bashing of anyone if they aren't good but do want honest thoughts on one or two others.

Are there any Houston, TX folks with positive experiences?
