Okna 600 vs Ideal Platinum

#1 Post by daniellesuh »

Hi, all.

I am new to the forum and would really appreciate feedback on the quotes I received. 17 DH windows, no grid.

Quote 1: Okna 600 at $910/window. Installer got really good reviews on Google and yelp but has been in business for less than 5 yrs.

Quote 2: Ideal Platinum at $650/window. Installer has really good reviews and has been in business for 30+ yrs.

I haven’t seen too many reviews on Ideal Platinum but Okna 600 seems to be great windows. But I am nervous about how new the installer is and the price. Any advice?

5 years is a decent amount of time and I am sure Okna properly vetted the dealer prior to allowing him to offer their window.
Okna 600 is the better window. What state are you located in?

The Ideal has a smaller market share but always seems to get great reviews. It has the performance and seems to be a well made window. Going by the performance numbers they seem Very close. Value wise and company longevity the Ideal kills it. The pricing on both is great the Ideal is actually on the low end . If everything such as install details and warranty and dealer credentials are equal the Ideal wins but it’s low price is pre-Covid and truly cut throat.

Did you ask the Ideal platinum dealer what the lead time is? Is it over 8 weeks?

Thank you for quick responses.

We are in PA, and it seems like Okna and Ideal are relatively close to here. I asked about the lead time on Ideal Platinum and waiting for the response. I was told Okna’s lead time is 8-10 weeks.

Still torn between the two, so will sit on it till the end of this week!

What town/city are you in?

Not a fan of Ideal.

Okna 800Dx would be our first suggestion followed closely by the 600DX.

Okna lead time for standard stuff is 3 weeks. That hardly matters, we are scheduling new contracts for install in Sep or Oct.

We have been helping people with design, sales and installation for 40 years.

Very good (low) price on the Okna 600, one of the best windows on the market.

Like TWN, I'm not a fan of the Ideal window, but you could do worse. The price is more concerning to me tbh, its impossible for a company with any sort of operation (office location, employees, vehicles, etc, etc) to install anything for $650 sustainably these days. 30 years sound great, but I know plenty of "pickup truck" contractors that have been "around for 30 years" and changed their phone number about 20 times in the process. Taillight warranty.

Pricing is definitely aggressive and under market for that window.

$650 is ridiculously low and questionable.
Is the lead time for that window about 12 weeks?
