Hi, I'm about to change the windows of my house (original 1964 windows that do not work well anymore) and I have two quotes that I like, for 15 double hungs, 1 slighlty larger picture and 1 very big bow (5-lite, 110 x 80):
Vytex Prodigy fusion, with ratings U-factor 0.27, SHGC 0.19, VT 0.43 and air leakage 0.30
Okna 800, with ratings U-factor 0.26, SHGC 0.28, VT 0.52 and air leakage 0.02
Both are very close, around 26,000 - 27,000.
I'm concerned about the air leakage rating on the Vytex, I reviewed the brochure and it says the Fortis has an AL of 0.04, but the Prodigy I was offered seems to be much worse (the Company, with great reputation in my area, told me Fortis and Prodigy are similar, while the Vytex Potomac would be a step above them). I'd also prefer a higher VT, but that might be fixable changing the window efficiency package I guess.
Is one of this windows better than the other in structural quality / expected life? What would you choose?
Thanks a lot for the help. Your forum was very educating for someone like me without any previous experience on window replacement.
Vytex Prodigy (apparently similar to Fortis) vs Okna 800

The Vytex is not a .30. The sticker says <.30.
its a .03 or .04. I know the company that offers the Vytex prodigy .

I’d go with the 800.

+1. I think the Fortis is a 0.04 or 0.05...but it's one of the top windows on the market.
The 800 is a 0.01 in this case. If they are close in price, I do think the 800 is a bit more robust frame and product. If we were talking about the 500 comparison to the Fortis, that is more of a 1:1.
