Replacement windows Cleveland Oh

#1 Post by WillB »

Hello,
I live in the Cleveland Ohio area and am looking to replace the builder grade windows on my 27-year old home. I have 26 windows but that number includes 3 transoms, 2 small awning windows and 2 basement hoppers. My home faces due West so the front takes the brunt of the weather, rain and afternoon sun, if that makes a difference. I’ve sat through six presentations and think I’ve narrowed it down to these:

Polaris ThermalWeld Plus w/Supreme2 option from a local window and door company:
$20,695.00

Same window (Polaris) from a different local company:
$22,301.00 (his included FoamFill)

SoftLite Imperial LS from Window Nation:
$25,321.00

I also got quotes from Renewal by Anderson (yikes!), Universal Windows Direct ($29,896.00 although they have already called saying there could be further discounts but didn’t say how much) and Stanek (higher than Universal).

I’m leaning towards the first Polaris. I previously had my front door replaced by the same local company (and actually it was a Polaris door w/sidelines and transom) and have been really happy with it. Is that a good choice for windows? Would there be any reason to spend more for Foam Fill or on the SoftLite? Thank-you

Just for comparison sake, have Company 1 add the foam filled option. That is a good window and if they are local and well vetted....I would rock it with them.

The SL LS is a good window. Problems are QC from the mfg and from the install company. Bad deal no matter how you slice it.
Foam filling might add $500 max.
I would go with the 1st company also. You had a good experience with them.

We do like Soft Lite and our experience has been a good one in terms of qc.
You would probably want to take a look at Stanek. They make a nice looking window from what I remember.
