Hi,
We inherited an old home with some Anderson windows. On the bottom of the window pane it shows "Anderson" then in a triangle I can see "A/W" and below that, but still in the triangle, appear an "I"
Below the triangle is "Xi".
One of the panes has lost its seal and is now "partly cloudy." I removed the pane and measured its thickness, which appears to be 3/8". However, I can't seem to find any double-pane windows with this thickness, and I'm worried replacing it with a 1/2" pane might not fit.
I'd love to replace this pane myself and save some money. If someone can make sense of this and point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks
Will
Old Anderson Window Pane Replacement
Re: Old Anderson Window Pane Replacement
Update:
I spoke to Anderson and the window is from 1972. The marking Xi confirmed my measurement of 3/8" thickness. They don't just sell the pane but the entire window frame with the pane. The cost would be $350. I'd prefer to save some money and just replace the pane. Is that possible? Or pennywise and pound foolish?
Thanks,
Will

I don't think you'll find replacement glass for that much cheaper to be honest. Tough to say. Have you called a local glazier?

There is a chance that you may be able to work up delivery and purchase through a certified Andersen lumberyard to save on shipping. The shipping fees are sort of heavy on sashes from Andersen.

Re: Old Anderson Window Pane Replacement
I just recently reglazed my first AW DH sash. It went well.
But it was from this century.
If you have a plan for replacing the vinyl stops then maybe.
But I would go with pennywise and pond foolish if you do.
