Removing bubble wrap marks from a window.

#1 Post by jim333 »

I have bubble wrap marks that I can't get off. It's like they are into the glass.

Here is a picture.

Just wondering if there is anything I can do to remove the marks?

Thanks

Jim

More likely that it's failed Low-e or glass defect if they are not coming off.

If it's on the surface of the glass I'd try glass cleaner and a razor blade first, and if that doesn't work, try some cerium oxide glass polish (you can find on amazon).

If its inside the IGU, its probably the low-e as WoW alluded to, in which case glass replacement would be necessary.

Thanks Windows on Washington and HomeSealed

If I used the cerium oxide glass polish would I need to buy a buffer or could I use it by hand?

Thanks

A buffer is certainly more effective, but a rag and a little elbow grease can do the trick. You can probably find a buffing wheel/pad that fits on a cordless drill fairly inexpensively.

If you use a razor blade, only use a new one. Old blades can have knicks and burrs in them that can scratch the glass.

Have you tried magic eraser just soaked in water. Can’t be done in sunlight. I’ve had great success removing suction cup marks from car windshields using them.
