Hi all,
We are remodeling our NJ mid-century modern home and planning on upgrading the older double-hung windows with longer casement windows.
Is there anything in particular we should look/ask for when it comes to casement windows in the northeast? We are still working on quotes but wanted to see if there are any brands I should get quotes from or exclude altogether.
I'm assuming glass quality is top priority given that's what they're mostly made of. We are ok with white, vinyl, and prefer not to deal with the maintenance associated with wood. Mid-tier price point.
Majestic/Ideal Window:
I read on this forum great things about Ideal's Majestic line so I requested a quote. Dealer then said that Ideal only makes one type of casement window that is used in all of their lines. Basically, there is no "Majestic casement" version. (Waiting for response from Ideal on this.)
Does anyone here know for sure? Is the Ideal casement still considered a good window?
Pella
Requesting quotes for 250 and Impervia series.
Okra Windows
Requesting a quote. Website only mentions Casement 700's.
Andersen Windows
Requesting a quote. Read good things about the 400 series.
How would you rank these options so far? Thank you in advance.
What to consider when replacing double hung with all casement windows?

AW 400 is a vinyl clad wood window, very expensive.
Most vinyl companies may have many levels of DH but only one casement.
Conveting dh TO ca CAN BE TUFF BECAUSE OF SIZE LIMITS ON ca.
oKNA IS MAX 36 WIDE WITH MAX ui OF 96.

The Okna is a great window and is the best of that bunch while pella is at the bottom.
The Okna 700 is their casement window. They also have double hungs and sliders as well.
Okna is known for their superior energy efficiency and structural integrity.

How big are the windows? As The Window Nerd mentioned, you'll have some limitations on sizes and I don't care for that look when the windows get really big. Just keep that in mind.

Thank you all.
Our existing DH are 36" W and we're aiming for a mix of 54" - 64" long. Looks like this fits within their available range. Appreciate everyone's feedback. We'll continue gathering quotes and check back.

With a width of 36" your max height will be 60". Total 96 UI max.
