Looking for help on deciding what windows to go with! Located in Illinois. This is for double hung full replacement windows. The Sierra Pacific contractor is combining some windows because they said it’d be cheaper. Turning two double hung windows into a large picture window, making 3 picture windows into 1 large picture window and making a half round window to a triangle. They’re saying it’s cheaper than ordering a half circle. The other companies did not agree with any of that. Between all of the contractors they also offer Alside Mezzo and Advanced Window Corp.
Sierra Pacific - $40,295 offers a 10% cash discount not included 28 windows
Pella 250 - $54,739 also offers 10% cash discount not included 30 windows
Vytex Potoma - $49,753 for 30 windows
Midway RBS replacement NOT full replacement - $38,945
The Sierra Pacific is really temping for the price point but I want to make sure we’re getting quality windows since this is our forever home. Vytex Potoma is the other one we’re considering. Is Vytex that much better to spend over $10k more though??
I contacted OKNA and the company they recommended has hit or miss reviews so I’m not going to request a quote from them. Really want to know the difference between Sierra Pacific and Vytex Potoma?? Thank you for any help and advice!

Questions:
- What is "hit or miss" reviews? The ole saying is that "Opinions are like...well..."
- Why the full tear out vs. insert option (guessing you are tearing out wood)
- Have you looked at SP reviews?
- What are the needs/goals for the windows? Do you want wood?

Out of the 3 quotes thus far, the Vytex is the clear winner by far. The “ potomac” is much better designed than the other 2.

-I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau and there were a lot of complaints about the install. That made me nervous so I didn’t move forward with a quote.
-We’re dealing with drafty wood windows with some that are leaking when it rains. We thought it’d be best to take everything out and start fresh. What would you suggest?
-we’re looking for overall good quality windows. To us that means, no ice/frost buildup, not drafty and can block a little more noise than our current ones. Just something that will hold up for a good amount of time. From what I’ve read online ones that have good ratings to stop air infiltration. Looking at vinyl windows.

The Vytex would meet that criteria.

I agree with Vytex. But the installer is the other part you need to scrutinize. I would not suggest a factory managed sub contractor install by a giant seller.
