Ideal Window Custom Weld II

Posted At: 2004-08-18 00:20:07

I spoke with a Schuco rep today & he quoted me 500-600 per window for 20 windows. -- not in my price range.

Anoter rep showed me Ideal Window Custom Weld II for 1/2 the price. (More in my price range) 80 year old company from Bayonne, NJ. Lifetime transferrable guarantee. .30 U factor

Any experience / comments about Ideal Window?

Thanks.

From what I can see it's an average mid-range window. It does have fairly good air infiltration rates and a real decent DP rating of 50 though. These type of windows are so hard for us to either recommend or not without direct experience because of the unknown variables of materials and workmanship.
The warranty is NOT even close to a full lifetime warranty. {20 years on the glass, 5 years on parts, 10 years on bays and bows, and 10 years on two-tone windows.} Read it over to see what it really says and make sure to carefully read all the ways your warranty can be voided and so that you know all the necessary hoops to jump through to even get the warranty.
In my opinion, you are getting half the window you would with Schuco, but you are also paying half, so as long as you are good with that, it is your decision. Just remember the age old saying......Caveat Emptor........and do your homework.

I have sold Ideal windows for over 25 years without any problems. It's a well made product and Ideal will stand behind it. Save the money and you won't be sorry.

Without ANY problems??? WOW, that's pretty amazing. Even the best windows I've used had an occasional problem. Maybe that's why the warranty is not that great. You don't ever need it.
