screens aluminum vs fibreglas

I am considering a patio enclosure. I have two cats with their claws that are both inside and outside. What type of screen would hold up stronger if the cats happen to touch it?

I always recommend aluminum screen cloth whether it is in screen enclosures or even in regular windows. Granted there are drawbacks to aluminum but I think the benefits out weight the faults.
1) Aluminum is better with animals. But there are pet screening available in fiberglass that is pretty tough but far more expensive than aluminum.
2) Grasshoppers don't eat aluminum. Fiberglass screens look like the material is rotting when grasshoppers get hold of it. They love the taste and will ruin fiberglass screens.
3) The hole size of aluminum is bigger allowing more air flow. Some people will say that it will also allow small insects to get in but it does keep almost every mosquito from getting through.
4) Aluminum doesn't look baggy like fiberglass screens.

Now for some of the faults of aluminum.
1) It can dent in situations such as hail storms or if something strikes the screen such as a thrown rock.
2) It is harder to work with. It really takes more training to get an individual to be able to make high quality screens with aluminum.
3) It doesn't work well in roll formed screen. Why put premium cloth in an economy frame?
4) Mill finish aluminum can oxidize which causes rot but most aluminum screen cloth is either charcoal or black finish which reduces this problem.

I'm sure there are other opinions. This is just my 2 cents worth.

Niether over a period of time. The cats will tear the fiberglass easier, but will "track" the heck out of aluminum and it can't be undone. Might want to consider stainless steel screens. Will be more expensive... but it will last... or declaw the cats.
