It may be an improvement but is still lacking any pizazz and any usefull features. As a Schuco dealer, I am very dissapointed. There are no graphics, no interactive features, no dealer locater and no photos to speak of.
I think this comes from the fact it was done in the european style of website design. Real boring. It must have cost dozens of dollars to make.
Thank goodness they are really good at window design, because they'd go broke within days at website design.
I guess I'll have to get busy and get my own Schuco site done, and not rely on them for any website support.

It will be a cold day in hell before I ever give a penny to a German company. Drink all the Perrier you want, drive all the Mercedes you desire. Germany and France will never again receive a penny from this Veteran.

You do everyday and don't know it. Almost every product you buy has investment from foreign companies. Do you like your new Dodge, Ford or just about any other "American" car? Think again with your way of thinking. You'll be forced into riding a bicycle my friend.
We as Americans have ourselves so heavily invested in the world with our products and factories, that if our trading and manufacturing partners took your approach, the US economy would collapse. What do you think is the percentage of US products in these countries compared to the percentage of their products in ours? We absolutely flood them with our products.
Schuco is an American made product, just like Certainteed, Polybau, or hundreds of other building products that have foreign investment. You'd be amazed at the companies you grew up thinking were American companies, but are actually not.
I understand your "America or die" mentality, as I too love my country and am a flag waiver. But the world is a much more complex marketplace than that. These windows are made in America by American workers using American raw materials produced by American workers working for American companies.
Are you really willing to put millions of Americans out of work so you can buy only products with no foreign investment?

I work for a European company, and our site is every bit as "blah" as Schuco's.

By the way, this is the new contact information for U.S. consumers to call and find out who dealers are and request info. I guess the Toll Free 1-877-4Schuco number was too easy to use???

It may be better than the previous site, but it still pales in comparison to many others.
The lack of "dealer locator" functionality is a very big miss.

As a potential customer, I can't see any detail for the vinyl sliding or casement windows. There is one tiny photo far away of a vinyl slider, but they picked an ugly example. A very wide yet very short window, which makes it look clunky. The lack of a local dealer locater is unforgivable......unless they don't have any ;-)

Sorry about peeing on your thread Randy.
I don't ("You do everyday and don't know it.") need a lesson about international economics from you Window4U.
I do and I know it. I don't purchase one single product without knowing where it comes from. So don't presume to tell me that I do know.
I specifically mentioned German and French companies. Not Canadian, Japanese, Italian etc. companies.
You say that, "trading and manufacturing partners took your approach, the US economy would collapse." We're not talking about our trading and manufacuring partners now are we? Well, maybe you are. Don't put words into my mouth. We're talking entire nations that are boycotting anything American because of their convulted feelings about our Republic.
You go on to say, " What do you think is the percentage of US products in these countries compared to the percentage of their products in ours?"
Well, seeing that our trade deficit was $55.82 billion in June, I'm beginning to realize that you don't know what you're talking about. Yet you say, "We absolutely flood them with our products." Do a little more research before you try to chastise me next time.
I'm retired at 48 yet you're still working. I don't need an economics lesson from you. Come to the battle armed next time.

While I agree that the site is not everything we would like it to be, it is far superior to the previous site which was almost comical in appearance.

First, I did mis-speak in the one sentence. I admit it. Sometimes, like most people, I type without thinking over every word that I write. I should have left out the part about the percentage, but that still doesn't affect my point.
I am versed in global economics, and do know the trade deficit numbers, as well as the reason, which many missunderstand as being a bad thing. An attractive economy invites foreign investment, thus jobs on both sides. Our economy always grows when there is a trade deficit, which is a fact lost on most protectionists.
Also, the majority of the almost $100 billion every a year trade we do with Germany is intra-industry, which is co-supporting each others industries.
If you want to be a protectionist, please do so. It's your right to do whatever you want. As an American and a veteran, you definitly earned the right. But, like I said before, the protectionism you practice is only hurting American workers.
Just curious, since you do so much research, which window out there meets your criteria? Be careful on your answer though, you don't want to come to this battle unarmed.

Very true Randy. I guess my initial reaction was just from my own over-expectations. I was just hoping for more.
I really don't understand the removal of the Today Show clip, which was the one thing on the original site I liked.

I agree about the lack of dealer locator. I did call the 877 number to find one. The first time, they couldn't help me so they forwarded me to someone who could. Then nobody picked up so I left a voicemail, and no one called me back. I called back after a few days. This time I was fowarded to someone in Pennsylvania (I'm in Wisconsin). Again, I left a voicemail. A day or 2 later someone in Indiana contacted me and told me there was a dealer in Wisconsin. So yes, I did eventually find a dealer, but it should have been much easier.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the new site was done in Germany and not here. Particularly since the phone numbers are shown in the international and not the USA style. I'm sure we all hope that the numbers ARE US and not international numbers!! Might be something for Fen Ex or Window4U to bring to their attention.
Yes, the site is better than it was in terms of appearance but it still leaves much to be desired. Now if Schuco would just engineer their site(s) like they do their windows..........

Ya know, just for kicks I dialed the new number EXACTLY as shown - while it isn't an international number, if someone dials it as shown the call won't go through. Because of the two leading zeros the call goes to an operator.
Shame on Schuco for not catching that and the grammatical errors.........

Please do not corrupt this board with political or idealistic content that have no place in a home improvement discussion board. I am sure you two can find an appropiate discussion board to duke it out. Please save the room on this website to windows and doors only.

Trying to be totally objective.
The new site is garbage.
A web site should provide useful information.
Some window manfactures sites are very good
some are very poor.
At very least I would think available options
and detailed images would be a start.

I have read so much stuff about different windows that I am dizzy. Overall I like the Schuco. Do you know of any testimonials about these windows. BTW I live in Buffalo NY and though I love the winter, it needs to stay outside :)
