I'm primarily interested in Schuco - but I guess the questions apply to any "premium" or high quality window:
I see that the lifetime of the vinyl is probably a lot longer than I will be around. But what about the seals? Does Low-e glass ever "wear out"? What about the Krypton (or Argon) gas? I assume if a seal fails then the gas is gone - but does it eventually dissipate anyway? How does a consumer even tell if a seal has failed or if the gas is gone?
I figure 20 years from now there will be newer, better technology in materials and construction but will quality windows installed today still be close to the same efficiency then as they are now?

I have been a lurker here for several months while we have been looking for windows and having them installed. Your knowledge and expertise and the way you have helped so many of us is greatly appreciated!
My guess is that you would be better qualified than most to answer my questions about vinyl windows and how well they will fare over the years. PLEASE?

FenEx has already answered your question about how long Schucos will last on Tim's other discussion board.. As I remember, "scientific calculations indicate that they will last from 80 to 300 years". Check with him for confirmation.
